Frequently Asked Questions As a prospective MiQE/F student you may have some questions about the MiQE/F. Please find below a selection of the most frequently asked questions. Can I apply for MiQE/F? If you have one of the following degrees from a recognised university (not university of applied sciences) or complete one before your chosen degree programme starts, then you can apply for this Master's programme: University Bachelor's degree in a similar subject to Economics A degree is considered to be similar if at least 60 ECTS credit points have been awarded in economic subjects. Consecutive university Master's degree in another discipline Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes must have been completed in the same discipline (consecutively) and amount to at least 270 ECTS credit points together. When you apply, you must prove that your proficiency in the English language, used as the language of instruction, is at level C1 (CEFR). Admission to MiQE/F is subject to a application process. Applicants are addmiteted on the basis of the assessment of the following criteria: GRE (min 160 in quantitative section) or GMAT (minimum score of 650) Grade average Writing Sample (usually Bachelor's thesis) Professional experience and letter of motivation More detailed information on application and admission to MiQE/F can be found here. Do I need to know German to apply for MiQE/F? No knowledge of German is required in order to apply for MiQE/F, though you will have to take German courses during your studies in St.Gallen. How do I enrole for MiQE/F? In order to apply for MiQE/F you need to complete your application online. If you are a HSG-graduate, please use the PDF form for HSG graduates for application. I have completed the B.A. HSG with a major in Business Administration. Can I apply for the MIQE/F? HSG graduates who do not hold a Bachelor's degree in Economics or hold a Master's degree in a different major and thus change majors/programmes need to complete the Master's preparatory level of 38 ECTS in Economics in order to change to MiQE/F. For further information on the MiQE/F specific preparatory level, please contact the admission office. Can I start the MiQE/F in the Spring Semester? No. Due to the application process and the curriculum structure start in the autumn semester is required. The MiQE/F offers an integration week (calender week 36) to incoming students, providing an overview of the programme contents. Is it possible to work while attending the MiQE/F programme? Generally, the MiQE/F is designed as a full time programme that can be completed within 3 semester. It is however, possible to work part time during your studies and extend your Master's studies up to 8 semester. We cannot place students in companies, finding suitable positions is the students' responsibility. Can I receive ECTS for internships? Yes. A maximum of 6 ECTS credits can be awarded for practical activities. Practice credits are awarded for internships that are closely related to the MiQE/F study content. We encourage you to gain practical experience during your Master's studies and to get in contact with potential employers. Upon completion of your internship you need to submit a final report to the MiQE/F programme comission, which will decide along with the Dean of Studies about crediting. Can MiQE/F students take part in an exchange programme? Exchange semesters are possible in the second or third semester, although the third semester is recommended. It is not possible to go abroad on an exchange during the first semester. For more information see Exchange. Additionally, students can apply for Double Degree programmes, for instance with the SEE in Sweden, in the first semester of MiQE/F. This would then mean that they will be abroad for the third and forth semester in their Master's study. Are there any scholarships? The Starr International Foundation Scholarship Fund is set aside for highly talented foreign-language students with a recognised foreign Bachelor’s degree who are completing a Master's degree in one of the English-language programmes.
