HSG wants to further improve the supervision of doctoral students
72.1 percent of doctoral students are glad or very glad that they decided to pursue a doctorate at the University of St.Gallen. 62 percent are also satisfied with their supervision. This was the result of a survey conducted by the Student Union and non-tenured faculty . However, the survey also revealed deficits: the requirements for a Ph.D. were unclear to many, the supervision quality, work conditions and the level of the fees were criticized. 38.4 percent of those surveyed stated they were aware of the power their supervisor wielded over them. The HSG has already taken various measures to improve the situation. More are planned for the autumn, or are to be implemented as part of discussions with various stakeholder groups.
